Frequently Asked Questions

Is my job too small?

No. At BWI we fabricate and repair jobs of any size. Never hesitate to bring in your small repair.

Can you weld aluminum?

Yes. We have decades of experience welding aluminum, magnesium, and stainless steel and several other alloy metals as well.

Do you repair fuel tanks?

Yes. Over the decades at BWI we have repaired and rebuilt hundreds of fuel tanks. Typically fuel tanks corrode around the strap areas where we add aluminum strips giving years of new life to an old tank. We have also added or removed fittings, shortened tanks, or split tanks into fuel/hydraulic combination.

Do you repair vehicle frames?

No. For insurance purposes BWI is not allowed to conduct highway vehicle frame repairs. We are still able to make repairs to slow moving vehicles such as construction equipment or lawn tractors.

What types of commercial and industrial truck repairs can you do?

We have replaced or repaired cross members, frame sections, 5th wheel plates, pull plates, suspension air bag mounts, side rails, dog houses, box liners, tailgates, ladders, and tarp rollers.

Where can I send drawings for a quote?

If you have drawings and would like a quote please send them to: sales@barkerswelding.com

If I send you photographs of my repair job, can you offer a general estimate?

Only with conditions. With repair work often the extent of material corrosion cannot be determined with photos. This includes other elements like specific sizes or types of materials that also cannot be determined from images. However, sometimes photos and description can be enough to relay a general price range.

What are your hours?

We are open Monday thru Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
